| Coaches, players excited about Pete Hanna Center
Samford University unveiled its new $32 million Pete Hanna Center to the media on Wednesday and it was hard to tell who was happiest - the two basketball coaches who now have a state-of-the-art facility to recruit to, the athletics director who has a showcase for the program, or women's shooting guard Megan Wilderotter. "We have a bathroom in our locker room," said Wilderotter, a junior from New Orleans. "I know that sounds really weird, because most locker rooms should have bathrooms, but we didn't have one at Seibert. "The locker room is like quadrupled in size. I personally love Seibert, but now that we have this - it's great." The facility, which is scheduled to be open for its first athletics events on Monday at 5:30 for a women's and men's basketball exhibition doubleheader, features 5,000 chair-back seats on two levels.

Madison left in the dark for big game
You've fumed at the NFL Network. You've vented about Charter. So now what, Green Bay Packers fan? If you're a Madison cable subscriber, you're not going to be able to watch Thursday night's game -- quite possibly your team's biggest game of the regular season -- from your living room. But you've exhausted your rage on the involved parties, so what's left to do besides go out and find a place to watch the game? Maybe while you're doing that, you can think of people in the Green Bay, Appleton and Milwaukee areas that aren't going to be so inconvenienced. That's because NFL broadcasting rules give those markets the right to show the game on over-the-air television stations. WFRV/Ch. 5 bought the rights in the Green Bay/Fox Valley market; WISN/Ch. 12 was the highest bidder in Milwaukee.
Steelers, NFL should be ashamed of conditions
There is no excuse — none — for the conditions the Pittsburgh Steelers provided for their game Monday Night against the Miami Dolphins. It was a travesty of football and an insult to the NFL, the players, the fans, and anyone who turned on a television in the hopes of enjoying Monday Night Football. It was a disgrace. The announcers kept talking about old-school football and summoning the names of the Chicago Staleys and Canton Bulldogs from the earliest days of the league, but that was an insult to those teams and those times. I've seen old-school football in old Cleveland Stadium in the days before modern drainage and turf science. Those games were played in mud. This one was played in a bog. .
New Releases
Reviews written by Josh Larsen, Sun-Times News Group, unless otherwise noted. NEW RELEASES August Rush (HHH): If your heart is not two sizes too small, you will embrace this charming fairy tale about a young orphan and musical prodigy (Freddie Highmore) who can "hear" his parents in the music around him. August's belief that his parents are still out there leads him to seek them out in New York City, where young lovers Lyla (Keri Russell) and Louis (Jonathon Rhys Meyers) once shared a single night that changed their lives. Only a Grinch would scoff at this whimsical picture. Rated PG (thematic elements, language, mild violence); 100 minutes. - WENDY FOX WEBER, STNG Enchanted (HHH): Silly yet never quite satirical, Disney's mild fairy-tale spoof is like Shrek without his teeth.
